Who is Telling Who What to Do?

Wouldn't it be ludicrous to tell the one that is in charge of leading us where to go and what to do and how we think things needs to be? Many that claim they are following Jesus are trying to direct him and giving other followers their own advise. Although they may have good intentions it leads to devastating results.
The problem with all this well intended advise is that Jesus does not need our help. It is the other way around. We need his help.
Let us consider what happened when Peter went up to the mount with Jesus and started giving what he thought was good advice.

Mat 17:1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elijah talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah". 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, "THIS is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him".

Out of respect, Peter desired to show honor to the Lord, but also to Moses and Elijah. He advised setting up three seperate tabernacles, or places of worship, one for each of them. Although he had good intentions, it didn't line up with Gods plan.

Let's look at what God had in mind. While Peter was still speaking, giving his well thought out advice, God came on the scene and abruptly interrupted Peter, saying THIS (Jesus) is my beloved Son - hear ye him. God only wanted His son to be honored. Not Moses and Elijah.

Down through time, many people have had the same good intentions as Peter. Churches (places of worship) have been built and thousands of religions have been created that honor an assortment of respected men and their teachings, adoring them as god like figures. These churches and religions have their orgins predominantly in people that were being lead by there own emotions and, so called, good intentions.

But God has given us His mind. "There is none other name given under heaven whereby we must be saved." JESUS is the only one we need to look to. JESUS is the only one we need to lift up and honor. Churches and religious bodies that are built on other people or other ideas only cause division (sectism) and confusion and lead souls away from Jesus .

Being lead by God requires submission. Our personal thoughts and ways are not Gods thoughts nor are they his ways.
Isa 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

May God help us as His followers never to try and give him directions or tell him the way we think it must be
